A Pastor based in Jos, Plateau State, has disclosed how soldiers, called to assist in the retrieval of corpses of church members killed by Fulani militias, needed to seek permission from the same militants before they could proceed to remove the deceased.

The Pastor shared this shocking revelation in a video posted on Facebook on Monday. He reported that the militants had attacked the Dong community in the Jos North Local Government Area of the state, resulting in the deaths of several individuals, including a woman and her child who were visiting to offer condolences.

According to the Pastor, due to the danger of entering the area to collect the bodies for burial, they had to enlist military assistance.

He further explained that, upon arrival, the soldiers had to contact the militants to request permission to enter the community and were granted only 10 minutes to do so.

This is what the Pastor stated in the video:

“When they killed our members in Dong, there was a woman and her child who had come to pay condolences.

“They were attacked and murdered by Fulani militants. Additionally, one of our young men had previously been killed by the same militants.

“We managed to reach out to the soldiers, and when they arrived, there was a Fulani house nearby. To our surprise, as we were preparing to retrieve the bodies, the soldiers indicated they needed to call the Fulani people for permission before they could enter and collect the corpses.

“In my presence, they contacted the Fulani individuals, who responded by granting the soldiers a mere 10 minutes to go in and retrieve the bodies. They allowed only 10 minutes. We were at the burial site waiting to bury them.

“Even after they arrived at the scene, the soldiers urged our people to hurry, as they only had 10 minutes to evacuate the bodies.

“When they finally managed to bring the corpses, the soldiers left immediately. We were uncertain whether they abandoned us to the attackers or what their intentions were. However, by the grace of God, we were able to conduct the burial and return to our homes safely.”
