English broadcaster Piers Morgan has slammed former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, as the Dutchman admitted Cristiano Ronaldo was never the problem at Old Trafford.

Morgan said that Ten Hag’s confession has shown that the Dutch manager was the problem at the club.

Ronaldo came back to Manchester United in 2021 after his sojourn at Real Madrid and Juventus.

He had an outstanding season under Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s tutelage, but Ten Hag, who replaced Solskjær ahead of the 2022-23 season, felt that Ronaldo was not important at the club.

Ronaldo later had his contract mutually terminated at Old Trafford and moved to Saudi Arabia.

Ten Hag then won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup over the next two seasons.

The former Ajax boss was eventually shown the exit door at Old Trafford on October 24, 2024.

Ten Hag, now managing Bayer Leverkusen, witnessed his side fall to a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea in a pre-season friendly on August 8.

He is now the manager at German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

He led the German side to a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in a pre-pre-season friendly on Thursday, and following the game, the Dutchman was asked if Ronaldo was the problem at Manchester United.

As quoted by ESPN, he said, “For me he’s [Ronaldo] no problem. He was never the problem and I think that’s the past…”

However, Morgan mocked the Dutchman, posting on X: “We know. YOU were the problem.”
