The inflatable bananas were out in force as a defiant City mob created a raucous atmosphere in the Anfield away end.

But Morgan, who has watched City pip to major honours numerous times in recent years, was outraged.

He wrote on X: “Sorry, but this is a total farce.

“ players, and fans, celebrating wildly like nothing has happened – despite the club being exposed as the worst cheats in history.

“What happens if they win the title again this season? That could ruin the Premier League.”

City, who have appealed their guilty verdict, face a range of punishments including points deductions, transfer bans, being stripped of trophies and even expulsion from the Prem.

Less than half an hour after his ‘farce’ message, Morgan’s rant continued.

He posted: “The Premier League has to act asap and announce City’s punishment. This cannot go on.”

Eight minutes later, Morgan responded to a clip of celebrating in front of the City supporters, writing: “Let’s see how smug he looks when City get relegated. As they should already have been.”

frontman and die-hard City fan was the next to get it after signing off an X-rated post with: “MCFC own football.”

Morgan responded: “No, MCFC bought football. Illegally.”

Later on Sunday, Morgan was back online.

He wrote: “Staggering sums, staggering cheating… yet today, we saw City’s players and fans celebrate like they’d been cleared, not guilty as charged.”

City and Arsenal are the pace-setters again this season, with the Blues leading by three points after six games.

But the title landscape could change dramatically if City are punished before the end of the campaign.

Under Prem rules, a hearing should be held within 12 weeks of City’s appeal, with a verdict handed down in the proceeding 30 days.
