BBC pundit Martina Navratilova joins two-time champ Kvitova, 35, in tears as Wimbledon career ends in worst possible way

TWO-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova broke down in tears after ending her SW19 in the worst possible way.

Kvitova, 35, crashed out with a double fault on Emma Navarro’s match point to lose 6-3, 6-1 in the first round.

An emotional Kvitova wiped away tears from her face before her final interview on Centre Court

An emotional Kvitova wiped away tears from her face after embracing Navarro, who is the 10th seed, at the net for the final time.

The former world No.1 received a huge standing ovation on Court One on Tuesday afternoon.

Navarro was quick to give up the floor to Kvitova and joined in on applauding the Czech star, who won Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014.

BBC pundit , who won 18 Grand Slams in her heyday, was also overcome with emotions on commentary.

The Czech-American legend said while welling up: “It’s hard for me. She’s just such a nice person on and off the court.

“A grand role model for kids everywhere and Czech tennis.”;

Soaking up the crowd and speaking for the last time on Centre Court, Kvitova said: “Thank you for the atmosphere, it was wonderful to play on this beautiful court. Congrats Emma.

“I wish we could have played for a bit longer. I never dreamed of winning Wimbledon and I did it twice so this is something very special.

Emma Navarro beat Kvitova 6-3, 6-1 on Tuesday

“I will miss Wimbledon, I will miss tennis, I will miss you fans but I am ready for the next chapter of life as well.

“I can’t wait to be back as a member. Thanks to the people who helped me to improve as a player and a person.

“I didn’t have many tennis coaches in my career but my first one was my dad and he is here today.

“My last one is my husband so I want to thank them all and the people in my box.

“Thank you to all my family back home. Thank you very much Wimbledon.”;

She was far from her best today but the Czech still showed fleeting moments of what made her a winner at Wimbledon in the past.

It marks Kvitova’s final appearance at Wimbledon before heading into retirement after a great career.
