Peter Obi Takes Legal Action Against Deji Adeyanju, Seeks N1 Billion in Damages

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has initiated a legal action against activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.

Obi has brought Adeyanju before an Anambra State High Court located in Onitsha for allegedly making unfounded and defamatory statements about him.

He accused the lawyer of using his social media accounts to disseminate scandalous, reckless, and malicious remarks against him.

In the lawsuit, the former presidential candidate is requesting the court to order Adeyanju to issue a full and unreserved apology.

He is also seeking the sum of N1 billion as general damages and N500 million as exemplary damages.

In response, Adeyanju remarked that Obi did not back down after threatening to pursue legal action against him.

In a message he shared with DAILY POST, Adeyanju stated: “Finally, Peter Obi has sued me. I am genuinely pleased and relieved that he didn’t back down in the end.

“Interestingly, he brought me all the way to Anambra State, even though he is usually in Abuja where I live. But no worries, we move on.”
