Veteran Nigerian singer and activist, Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy, has taken a swipe at a former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, for allegedly contributing to the truncation of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s victory in the 2023 election.
DAILY POST reports that the former governor, who recently dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Social Democratic Party, SDP, was part of the forces that pulled President Bola Tinubu through in the election.
El-Rufai had apologized to Nigerians for working against the opposition during the presidential race.
His recent shift from the ruling party to joining forces with opposition leaders plotting Tinubu’s removal in 2027 had raised eyebrows.
El-Rufai, who vehemently criticised and worked against Peter Obi during the 2023 election, is currently aligning with the former governor of Anambra State.
However, in a post on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, Charly Boy accused El-Rufai of insincerity, saying the SDP chieftain speaks from “both sides of his mouth”.
He wrote, “He (El-Rufai) regretted supporting the rigging of the 2023 presidential election to favour Tinubu because he was in APC then.
“We are all familiar with the Mallam called El-Rufai who talks from both sides of his mouth. Now that he’s been sidelined, e don dey expose dia corruption. Abegi go sidon for duty.”
