Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has compared former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to Premier League football players who frequently switch clubs each season.

During an interview on The Clarity Zone Podcast, Bwala characterized Obi as a political opportunist and performer.

He remarked that Obi has a legion of supporters on social media who criticize others for changing parties but fail to see any inconsistency when their leader switches from one party to another.

“Among all the political figures in Nigeria, the one who truly acts is Peter Obi. For instance, after the 2023 election, he lost the support of everyone he was leading.

“He once had members in the House of Representatives and Senate. How many of them are currently in the National Assembly? The only governor he had is either with him or with us?

“When it comes to the state level, I have not seen anyone who identifies with him at this point. All the candidates he supported across Nigeria have failed.

“He claims to be building a movement. A movement implies that you are breaking away from the norm. This suggests that these individuals may initially support him but will eventually realize that he does not genuinely intend to govern Nigeria.

“Obi is akin to Premier League football players who change clubs every season. He transitioned from APGA to PDP, then to the Labour Party, and now, he is in the ADC,” Bwala stated.
