The 55-year-old has been visiting the club for years after playing 24 games for them across two spells back in the early 2000s.

Reports in Italy noted that fans were left stunned by his arrival at their 19,000-seater stadium but they were delighted to welcome one of the best coaches in the world.

Of course, when Pep played for them, they were a outfit.

Guardiola shared the pitch with names like Roberto Baggio and Luca Toni during his time at the club.

But in the years since, the club has fallen on hard times and actually dissolved last summer.

They narrowly avoided relegation from Serie B last season, only to be deducted four points right at the last minute condemning them to Serie C.

The president declared the club bankrupt after proving unable to pay off debts of around £2.6 million.

The club found their rebirth in Serie C as Union Brescia and they now sit second in the Group A table.

Guardiola saw them secure a 3-2 win against second-bottom Pro Patria, but there was some major developments for him professionally transpiring back in England.
