The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has issued a stern public notice disclaiming Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja and affirming Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the legitimate national secretary of the party.

The clarification follows a letter dated November 19, 2025, authored by Arapaja and presented to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, in which he claimed to be the party’s National Secretary.

In an official communication dated November 26, 2025, the NWC described Arapaja’s actions as “regrettable and disdainful,” noting that his letter, which sought to disparage certain judges of the Federal High Court, was written without any legitimate authority.

According to the notice: “The National Working Committee wishes to state categorically that Arapaja is not the National Secretary of our great Party, neither is he the National Legal Adviser. Therefore, he lacks the legitimate authority to issue any correspondence on behalf of the PDP.”

Separately, Anyanwu issued a direct disclaimer, urging the public and all institutions to disregard any correspondence from Ambassador Arapaja.

“This letter further serves as a disclaimer to Amb. Taofeek Arapaja falsely parading himself as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party. The true identity of the National Secretary of PDP can be verified and established from the INEC portal,” he stated.

PDP emphasised that its internal affairs are governed by strict adherence to its constitution, the Electoral Act, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The party reaffirmed its respect for the judiciary and the rule of law, condemning any attempt to coerce the judiciary or legitimise illegality.

The party advised the public, government agencies, including INEC, and the judiciary to disregard entirely any communication purportedly from the PDP signed by Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, stating: “Recognise only correspondence duly authorised and signed by Senator Samuel N. Anyanwu as the National Secretary. Verify the party’s legitimate leadership through the official INEC portal. The party remains united and focused on its mission to provide a strong, credible opposition and reclaim power for the people of Nigeria.”
