The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, labeling it as “a political farce and an absurdity.”
In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Halliru Andi, the party stated that the APC’s stakeholders meeting in Talata Mafara, where Tinubu was endorsed, was a desperate attempt to revive a failed product.
The statement remarked, “the endorsement is merely an affront to the intelligence of struggling Nigerians.”
The PDP questioned how anyone could endorse a President whose administration has brought about unprecedented hardship, hunger, insecurity, unemployment, and poverty to Nigerians in just over a year.
The party accused APC leaders in Zamfara of being selfish and desperate, asserting that they have lost touch with the realities and challenges faced by the average citizen.
It further claimed that the same leaders “who have caused ruin in Zamfara and Nigeria are now trying to market a failed political product to the very masses they have betrayed.”
The PDP stated, “Whenever APC leaders in Zamfara convene, it is never about the welfare of the people, but rather about distributing positions, safeguarding personal interests, and scheming to maintain political relevance.”
It also held the APC government accountable for the escalating insecurity and economic downturn, stating that under President Tinubu and the APC, the Nigerian economy has deteriorated, insecurity has intensified, and life has become unbearable for ordinary citizens.
The PDP assured that “2027 will not be business as usual,” emphasizing that the era of alleged deceit, manipulation, and propaganda has come to an end.
The statement declared that Nigerians “will overwhelmingly reject Tinubu and the APC at the polls.”
“Our esteemed party, the PDP, remains the only credible alternative with a clear vision to restore hope, rebuild the economy, and secure our nation from the devastating failures of the APC,” it added.
The statement urged the people of Zamfara not to be sidetracked by the “political theatrics in Talata Mafara,” insisting that “it was never a meeting for the people, but a gathering for the few.”
“Zamfara State and Nigeria deserve better, and that brighter future lies with the PDP,” it concluded.
