PDP Challenges Wike's Faction as It Boosts Preparations for Ibadan Convention

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ramped up preparations for its 2025 National Elective Convention, which is set to take place on November 15 and 16 at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement shared on its official X account on Thursday, the party announced that the convention, branded as #Ibadan2025, will signify a pivotal moment in its efforts towards internal renewal and its readiness for the 2027 general elections.

The statement indicated that more than 3,000 delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are anticipated to participate, along with party leaders, stakeholders, and international observers, including members of the diplomatic community.

It also mentioned that the convention will involve the election of essential national officers, including a new National Chairman, and will reaffirm the PDP’s dedication to unity, discipline, and democratic values.

According to the statement, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who is hosting the event, has conducted several inspections of the venue and logistical assessments to ensure a successful gathering.

The party noted that the Lekan Salami Stadium is being transformed into “a hub for democratic renewal” in preparation for the event.

The statement further added that final adjustments are being made to seating arrangements, stage design, lighting, and audio-visual systems, under the supervision of Oyo State Deputy Governor Barr. Bayo Lawal, who chairs the Venue Sub-Committee of the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC).
