The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to the remark of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State regarding the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Makinde, who spoke after the Southwest zoning consultative summit in Lagos, said he would not allow himself to be reduced to “gutter level” of the FCT Minister.

Addressing the controversy surrounding the issue of PDP zoning, the governor insisted that the party is not dead.

Reacting to the Minister’s call that the South-South zonal chairman, Dan Orbih, should not be removed, Makinde said: “Personally, when people go low, or they go into the gutters, I don’t go with them.”

The governor noted that PDP’s National Executive Council (NEC) will decide on the party’s zoning and other issues during its meeting on Monday.

However, Olayinka challenged Makinde to be brave enough and address the Minister directly regarding the issue.

Posting on X, Olayinka posted: “The brave must never give his ears to the murmuring of the coward until he grows enough balls to be able to speak directly.”

Meanwhile, the outcome of the Southern Leaders zoning consultative summit has been rejected by some PDP members believed to be loyal to Wike.

Despite the tension, the Bayelsa governor, Douye Diri-led zoning committee will propose a zoning formula for the 19 National Working Committee positions between the North and the South at the 102nd National Executive Committee meeting next Monday.

It is also expected that NEC will take a stand on the committee’s recommendations on zoning during the meeting.
