PDP coming back stronger in 2027 – Moro

Published on May 28, 2025 at 08:22 AM

Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, has expressed strong confidence in the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) ongoing efforts to revamp its fortunes ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking at the 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Tuesday, May 27, 2027, at Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, Moro stated that members of the PDP in the National Assembly fully support the National Working Committee, the Board of Trustees, governors, and other key stakeholders in their bid to restore the party’s strength.

“We have complete confidence in the lineup of activities by the leadership of the party, which will culminate in the national convention.

“There’s no better time than now to assure members, supporters, and lovers of democracy in Nigeria that PDP is coming back,”;; Moro said.

He acknowledged recent defections within the party but insisted that PDP remained Nigeria’s largest political brand with strong presence across the country.

Moro described the defections as temporary setbacks, affirming that the party’s ideals and vision will make it the party to beat in the 2027 elections.

Recalling the PDP’s origins with just 16 founding members who envisioned a democratic party to provide purposeful leadership, Moro urged members to stay united and confident.

“Nigeria deserves an alternative, and that alternative is the PDP,”;; he added.
