THE parents of a baby treated by killer nurse Lucy Letby claim she saved their child twice and called her an “angel”.

They say hospital bosses made her a “scapegoat”.

, 36, is serving a , when Clare and Carl’s daughter Jessica was born there.

They spoke on a podcast about Letby by , who was convicted and cleared of murdering Brit in Italy in 2007.

After Letby’s arrest the couple learnt she helped save Jessica twice after breathing difficulties.

They don’t believe she would save her “like an angel” yet kill others — and said the hospital had broken equipment and staffing issues.

Carl said: “Lucy Letby was the one who brought Jessica up to our room in the ward when she was free out of the NICU to come up and sit with us.

“She delivered her to us and that was a very short, quick interaction as well. She’s just, ‘Here’s your baby, kind of thing. She’s all yours.”

He added that the moment was one of the “best moments of my life”.

The couple now question whether more was at play.

He added: “I’d say I’m over 90% sure that they’ve blamed bad management and bad procedures and badly run units on one individual.

The couple say the whole situation has taken its toll and admit they suffer “survivors guilt” that their daughter survived while other children didn’t.

The hospital was approached for comment.
