The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has disclosed that over 34,000 federal civil servants now have official government email addresses.

According to her, this development, which is new in the Nigerian civil service, enables more secure and efficient communication across government.

She also said that Nigerians are beginning to believe in the civil service again, adding that this renewed public trust is priceless.

“We must do everything in our part to sustain and deepen it,” she said at the Quarterly Stakeholders and Citizens Engagement Forum of the Office of the Head of Civil Service F held in Abuja on Friday.

Speaking on human resource management and financial accountability within the civil service, Walson-Jack said that issues in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System will continue to be addressed to enhance payroll integrity and efficiency.

“This effort, carried out in collaboration with the Federal Civil Service Commission and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, as well as other federal agencies, is yielding results,” she said.

According to her, this “not only saves public funds by eliminating waste and fraud, but also ensures that genuine workers are paid promptly and accurately.”

On the digitalisation of the civil service, Walson-Jack said, “We are rapidly digitalising our operations to create a smarter and more transparent government.

“To date, over 34,000 federal civil servants now have official government email addresses enabling more secure and efficient communication across government.

“The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is also currently migrating its records and services to the One Gov cloud.”
