The Delta State Commissioner for Works, Rural Roads and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, stated that the transition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on April 28, 2025, has promoted unity and a shared purpose throughout all levels of the party in the state.
While addressing journalists in Asaba, Aniagwu remarked that the Governor’s efforts in political integration since participating in the recent APC stakeholders’ meetings in the state have been remarkable.
He pointed out that extensive meetings have been conducted at the ward, local government, and senatorial levels to strengthen internal unity, culminating in a recent statewide stakeholders’ meeting attended by prominent political figures, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and high-ranking government officials.
Aniagwu, accompanied by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, and the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Projects, and Policies, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, refuted claims of disunity within the party.
He emphasized that the APC has achieved remarkable unity and cohesion under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
“During that meeting, participants unanimously expressed their confidence in the Governor’s performance and pledged their total support for both Governor Oborevwori and President Bola Tinubu in anticipation of the 2027 general elections,” Aniagwu stated.
“Nearly all of our senators and almost every member of the House of Representatives were present and actively participated. Those who were absent had official commitments and had obtained formal permission. This is why I say that in Delta APC, we are operating at an exceptional level,” he emphasized.
Aniagwu compared the party’s current strength to achieving a distinction in an examination. “In an exam, scoring 50% earns you credit, but achieving 98% success in a political gathering signifies distinction,” he noted, adding that the Governor’s inclusive leadership has fostered a renewed sense of purpose among members.
He acknowledged that politics requires ongoing management of interests and relationships, describing the Governor as a patient and perceptive leader who understands the dynamics of people and power.
“Instead of focusing on the few who were unable to attend the meeting, we should celebrate the hundreds who did, along with those who spoke, contributed, and reaffirmed their loyalty to the party and its leadership,” Aniagwu stated.
He asserted that the enthusiasm and unity observed across the state are evidence that the Delta APC is stronger than ever, with its members aligned in vision and purpose under the leadership of Governor Oborevwori.
