The Osun State Police Command has assured residents of adequate security arrangements across the state ahead of the Easter celebration.
In a press statement issued by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi on Friday, the Command said comprehensive measures had been put in place to safeguard lives and property before, during and after the festivities.
According to the statement, “security personnel have been strategically deployed to churches, recreational centres, major highways and other public places across the state.”
It added that “the aim of the deployment is to prevent any breach of peace and ensure a hitch-free Easter celebration for all residents.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Units to intensify surveillance and patrol operations.
“He has also instructed officers to maintain a high level of professionalism and civility while discharging their duties.”
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.
The Command advised parents and guardians to closely monitor their wards and discourage any form of unlawful behaviour during the festive period.
It reiterated its commitment to ensuring peace and security, wishing all residents a peaceful, joyous and crime-free Easter celebration.
It also extended warm greetings to Christian faithful and described the season as one symbolising sacrifice, love and renewal.
