The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed his belief that with divine support and the people's backing, he will secure re-election later this year.

The governor made his remarks on Monday during a New Year interfaith prayer session held at the State Secretariat, which was attended by labor leaders, religious figures, and public servants.

He stated that his administration has overcome numerous challenges over the past three years and is prepared to tackle the hurdles ahead of the upcoming election.

According to Adeleke, the journey of his government since he took office has been sustained by faith and resilience.

“Our God has been our sustainer, defender, and protector. From the very beginning, He has fought our battles for us. Those who rise against us are met with a higher power,” he remarked.

He described his administration as a testament to what he referred to as ‘divine grace,’ emphasizing that his government has triumphed over obstacles that once seemed insurmountable.

“We are living proof that God governs the affairs of men. Time and again, we have faced challenges and emerged victorious. As God remains the same yesterday, today, and forever, we will continue to prevail and remain undefeated,” the governor asserted.

Adeleke further highlighted the accomplishments of his administration, stating that he has implemented people-centered policies since taking office, resulting in tangible outcomes across key sectors of the state’s economy.

“From my first day in office, we prioritized programs that directly impact the lives of our people. Three years later, we have remained true to our commitments to Osun residents,” he said.

The governor listed various interventions for senior citizens, support for the poor and vulnerable, the rehabilitation of roads and bridges, the empowerment of artisans, and efforts to address challenges in education and healthcare as some of the achievements of his administration.

He also pointed out that his government is gradually addressing inherited salary and pension arrears, despite skepticism from political opponents.

“Under very challenging circumstances, we are tackling half-salary payments and pension backlogs that some claimed were impossible to resolve. We have ensured that Osun's resources serve the people of Osun and have created a more conducive environment for investors,” Adeleke stated.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Osun State, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, reaffirmed labor’s commitment to supporting the governor’s re-election, announcing that workers would vote en masse for Adeleke during the governorship election on August 8, 2026.

Religious leaders also offered prayers and goodwill messages. The Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasaun, and the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, Dr. John Adeleke, praised the governor for his consistent public display of faith and prayed for divine guidance to help resolve the state's challenges and ease his path to re-election.
