A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Dan Ulasi, has said that only God can determine whether the party will win the presidency in the 2027 general elections.
Ulasi spoke on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Friday, noting that while the PDP is making efforts to reorganize ahead of the polls, its survival and success ultimately depend on divine will.
The PDP chieftain noted that during the party’s last National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting, at least seven PDP governors were in attendance, describing it as a refreshing sign of unity and commitment to repositioning the party.
Ulasi further pointed out that the PDP has zoned its presidential ticket to the South, noting that fairness demands it should be micro-zoned to the South East, as it has yet to produce a president in the current democratic dispensation.
He said: “Well, I’ll answer that question by saying that only God will answer that your question to say whether PDP will make the presidency in 2027. Only God knows who will be alive tomorrow morning. And I normally make that statement, I don’t take assumptions that are beyond my control. We have hope or desires to want to do something, if God wills.
“If PDP survives, as we are trying to do… And the last National Executive Meeting, we had almost seven of our governors. It was refreshing that everybody is now talking about how to, you know, discussing how to reorganize the party, put it in a stronger footing for 2027, and other subsequent elections that are coming.
“So, I don’t know who the candidate will be, but you know the party has zoned the presidency to the south. Yes, and if there is honesty, like you said, they should micro zone it to the South East, because virtually now we are the only zone, theoretically speaking, that have not had a presidency in this very dispensation.”
