The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State chapter, has accused the administration led by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of transforming governance in the state into a marketplace of deceit, propaganda, and self-promotion.

According to the opposition party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), under Aiyedatiwa's leadership, has been operating a government based on blackmail.

The PDP, through its Director of Media and Publicity in the state, Wande T. Ajayi, emphasized that if the government is transparent, it should publish the list of contractors, payment records, and the actual status of the 2025 budget implementation.

Ajayi underscored that the PDP will not tolerate threats or the misuse of the Cybercrime Act to silence critics in the state. He asserted that the administration is more focused on chasing illusions rather than addressing the pressing issues of hunger, unemployment, and deteriorating infrastructure that are afflicting the state.

He stated, “It is amusing that an administration unable to justify its extravagant spending or its failure to fulfill basic responsibilities to its citizens and local governments now claims to be ‘defending truth.’ What truth? The truth that the government is operating on autopilot?

“The truth that projects have come to a halt while the state’s finances continue to grow at an unprecedented rate? The truth that our hospitals are failing, schools are unsuitable, and Ondo South is nearly isolated from the rest of the state?

“Or the truth that AAUA has been on strike for two months, with the Students’ Union threatening protests? Let Governor Aiyedatiwa be reminded that those who thrive on manipulation cannot suddenly present themselves as paragons of morality.

“Until he does, the PDP will persist in exposing the lies, waste, and hypocrisy that have become the trademarks of this administration. Truth is not defended through threats; it is demonstrated by actions. Unfortunately, this government has failed that test miserably.”

In response to the allegations, the Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Digital Media, Yomi Oyekan, stated that his boss is accomplishing what the PDP was never able to do by repairing what was left broken.

Oyekan, who noted that opposition should not be characterized by tantrums and outdated slogans, emphasized, “The people of Ondo have moved forward. The state is advancing. Salaries and pensions are being paid, projects are ongoing, and lives are improving daily. The PDP should take notes instead of seeking attention.”
