Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has declared a Christmas bonus of N150,000 for every civil servant in the state.

Nwifuru made the announcement on Sunday during a church service held at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki.

Nwifuru reiterated his instruction to political appointees planning to run in the local government election to resign, in accordance with electoral regulations.
“It is not my responsibility to select you as the chairman of your Local Government Area. If you are vying for the chairmanship position in next year’s council election as an appointee, you must resign as the law requires.”
Governor Nwifuru also addressed rumors regarding delays in the construction of the Vincent Agwu Nwankwo Flyover, a significant project undertaken by his administration.
“You will not find another state in Nigeria currently undertaking a flyover project of this scale,” he stated, elaborating on the complexities involved in the project, which aims to enhance the state's appearance upon completion.
He criticized social media backlash regarding the project, asserting that the administration is intentionally making efforts to ensure the state is recognized for its advanced and modern infrastructure.
“We are pursuing this not because we have ample funds, but because we want to leave a lasting legacy in the annals of history,” Nwifuru concluded.
