Witnesses told The Sun that a 50-strong group from defence giant Babcock were at Raffles Social Club in on the Saturday night before Christmas.

One said: “They all kicked off, fighting each other, throwing food at each other and then throwing it at the waiter.”

And a source said: “Three of them were constantly fighting.

“They threw their buffet on the floor and when staff went to pick it up they threw pasties at the staff.”

The mayhem is said to have caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage.

Furious staff called the contractors’ boss at Devonport Royal Dockyard and booted the whole group out at 9.30pm.

They are employed on a £750million contract to maintain but it is running more than two years late.

A Navy source said: “I don’t know what they were celebrating.”

A Babcock spokesman said: “We are aware of an alleged incident.

“An internal investigation is under way.

“We expect the highest standards of behaviour from colleagues and view any drop as both disappointing and unacceptable.”
