The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has appointed Mr. Ezekiel Gomos, OFR, as the Director-General of its Secretariat, marking a significant advancement in enhancing regional collaboration and institutional capacity among the 19 northern states.

In announcing this decision, the NSGF Chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, stated that the establishment of the DG’s office would "transform the Secretariat into a more efficient engine for policy coordination, collective action, and long-term development planning."

Governor Yahaya further emphasized that this appointment reflects the Forum’s renewed dedication to tackling the urgent socio-economic and security issues facing northern Nigeria. "We believe Mr. Gomos possesses the expertise to assist us in creating a stronger, more unified regional platform that can promote sustainable development and enhance our collective responses to emerging challenges," he remarked.

Mr. Gomos, a former Secretary to the Plateau State Government, is a distinguished development economist with extensive experience in governance reform, private-sector development, and institutional enhancement. He has held prominent positions at esteemed organizations such as the New Nigeria Development Company (NNDC) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

Additionally, he is the Lead Consultant and Head of Faculty at the Jos Business School (JBS), where he specializes in leadership development, entrepreneurship training, and policy dialogue.

For nearly two decades, Gomos has served as a resource person at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, contributing to the training of senior leaders in policy formulation, national strategy, and development management.

His academic credentials include degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of East Anglia in the UK. He has received several prestigious fellowships, including the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship (University of Minnesota), the British Chevening Scholarship, and the UNDP Fellowship at the ILO Training Centre in Turin. He has also completed executive programs at Harvard Kennedy School, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and Durham University Business School.
