The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested five individuals suspected of vandalizing and stealing from public institutions across the state.
According to a statement released by the NSCDC spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, and signed on behalf of the State Commandant, Shafi’u Abdulmumini, four of the suspects-Abdulbasi Usman (19), Yahaya Isa (20), Abubakar Sadiq Abdullahi (20), and Adamu Murtala (20)-were apprehended for breaking into and looting two government secondary schools – GSS Unguwar Rimi and GSS Unguwa Uku.
Recovered stolen items included roofing sheets, iron rods, buckets, 20 three-seater cushion chairs, mats, windows, ceiling fans, teaching materials, and vital documents. The NSCDC is continuing efforts to trace and recover more items, including those allegedly sold to a known buyer now under investigation.
In a separate operation, 17-year-old Alasan Inusa from Dambatta LGA was arrested for allegedly stealing electrical infrastructure components. Items recovered from him included six insulators, a 3-meter aluminum cable, nuts, and brass parts.
The command confirmed that investigations are complete and legal proceedings against the suspects will commence soon.
