The National Sports Commission, NSC, has suspended the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, elective congress, DAILY POST reports.

The NFF elective congress was scheduled to take place in Lafia, Nasarawa State on September 27, 2026.

A fresh electoral process will begin after the completion of comprehensive reforms expected to be undertaken in consultation with the Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, and the Confederation of African Football, CAF, according to the NSC.

NSC’s decision is sequel to the resignation of top officials of the NFF.

President of the NFF, Ibrahim Gusau announced his resignation during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

The General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, and members of the Executive Committee have also announced their resignation.

The NSC has already endorsed the appointment of Emmanuel Ikpeme and Ademola Olajire as interim General Secretary and Deputy Secretary General, respectively.
