NPFL: Ezeaku commends Rangers despite poor campaign

Published on May 31, 2025 at 07:30 AM

Rangers Chairman, Amobi Ezeaku has commended the team for their overall performance in the 2024/25 season despite missing out on a place on the continent.

The Flying Antelopes finished the 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season in 10th position with 52 points from 38 matches.

Rangers were also eliminated from the 2025 President Federation Cup in the semi-final stage.

Ezeaku, however, admitted that the team fell short of their target for the season.

“Let me specially thank all of us for our painstaking efforts in getting the club to the level we were able to attain this past season,”; Ezeaku stated in his address to the players and officials.

“We did relatively well. A semi-final finish in the President Federation Cup and a 10th-place finish in the league, though not our target from the onset, is still respectable for a defending league champion.

“Our second-round participation in the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League, considering all we went through, is also commendable.”;

Ezeaku assured that the team will be ready for next season after the 27-day break for the players and officials.

“When we go, I urge the players to get the deserved rest so that when we resume on23 June 2025, we shall be turbo-charged to contest on all fronts, reclaim all that is due to us, and celebrate with our fans all over the world,”; he said.
