NPFL: Ekenedilichukwu gives reason for Rangers’ defeat to Rivers United

Published on May 08, 2025 at 10:05 AM

Rangers head coach, Ekeh Ekenedilichukwu, has attributed his side’s loss against Rivers United to carelessness on the part of the players.

The Flying Antelopes lost 1-0 to Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday.

Samson Obi scored the winning goal for the hosts.

Ekenedilichukwu, however, commended his players for their fighting spirit despite the defeat.

“This is football. My players fought really well. We conceded that lone goal in the added minutes of the first half,”; Ekenedilichukwu said in a post-match interview.

“Our carelessness cost us the game. Nevertheless, we pushed harder in the second half of the game, but the damage had already been done.

“We will shift our attention to the next league match against Katsina United this weekend in Enugu.”;

Rangers are ninth on the league table with 49 points after 36 matches.
