A public affairs commentator, Mahdi Shehu, has said that many of the problems facing Northern Nigeria are self-inflicted, blaming the region for failing to take responsibility.
Shehu, in a post shared on X on Saturday, criticised what he described as a culture of blaming others instead of self-reflection.

β€œPeople of Northern Nigeria are busy crying and blaming others when they should be blaming themselves,” he said.

He argued that internal issues such as greed, hatred, injustice, and envy have weakened the region over time.

β€œThey have allowed greed, hatred, injustice, and envy to destroy them. What a pity,” Shehu added.
