Northern Monarchs Gather in Kebbi to Address Growing Insecurity

Traditional leaders from various regions in Northern Nigeria, spearheaded by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, have gathered in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, for a two-day conference focused on addressing critical issues impacting the area, especially the escalating insecurity in the North West.

The conference, which commences today, Tuesday, and concludes tomorrow, will be officially opened by Governor Nasir Idris, while the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, will take on the role of host.

According to DAILY POST, numerous first-class traditional leaders arrived in Birnin Kebbi on Monday in preparation for the conference. Among them are the Emir of Kagara, Malam Ahmed Garba Gunna; the Etsu Nupe, Dr. Yahaya Abubakar; the Shehu of Bama, Alhaji (Dr.) Umar Kyari Umar El-Kanemi; and the Emir of Biu, all of whom arrived at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi.

Upon their arrival, the Shehu of Bama and the Emir of Biu paid a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, at his guest residence in Birnin Kebbi.

This meeting, organized by the Northern Traditional Rulers Council (NTRC), is anticipated to discuss the increasing insecurity and other socio-economic challenges facing the northern region.
