He further stated that by the end of the attacks, the militants had killed over 150 individuals, set fire to numerous houses, including churches, and destroyed properties and food supplies.

With deep emotion, Rev. Mutong expressed:

“My name is Rev. Yakubu Mutong, and I serve as a pastor with the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN). This is my village, Maiyanga, located in the Bokkos local government area of Plateau State, Nigeria. What transpired here is that…

“The crisis did not solely impact this village; over 11 villages were affected, and Maiyanga was one of those targeted. The nature of the attacks was consistent across these villages.

“The killings, the maiming of individuals, the slaughtering, and the burning of homes, properties, and food supplies were rampant. According to the records we gathered, more than 150 people were killed in just one day, specifically on December 24th, 2024.

“It was meant to be a time for Christmas celebration, but for us, there was nothing to rejoice about. It turned into a sorrowful Christmas due to the tragedy we endured.

“As you can see, I stand here in front of my house that was consumed by flames set by the militants. I lost everything inside, including food and all the furniture.

“Even the nearby church was destroyed, along with the pastor's residence. Everything about our lives here in this village is in turmoil, as you can observe.

“Everything in this village has been devastated, but we are grateful that some of us are still alive. Personally, I have lost seven brothers to this tragedy.”
