Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has declared that there is no terrorist organization operating within his territory.
The monarch cautioned against the dissemination of what he termed “false information” regarding the town.
This statement was issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the monarch, Alli Ibraheem, and was obtained in Osogbo on Monday.
Oluwo was responding to a report that alleged a security group affiliated with Jama’atu Ta’awunil Muslimeen, a religious organization based in Iwo, is a terrorist group.
According to him, the report was a calculated effort to undermine the security capabilities of Iwo by diminishing the strength of the Jaysu Security Network.
“The media report claiming the existence of a terrorist group in Iwo is false and baseless.
“Iwo continues to be the most peaceful town in the Southwestern states, thanks to the efforts of the Jaysu Security Network, which is an extension of Jama’atu Ta’awunil Muslimeen under the leadership of Sheik Dahood Imran Molaasan.
“Imran Molaasan is an international asset who has effectively handled global assignments. He is recognized as one of the leading educational philanthropists, providing scholarships to underprivileged students. The group has been established for over 20 years. I fail to understand how contributing to enhancing national security and promoting academic excellence could be labeled as terrorism. No terrorist can infiltrate Iwo. Iwo is peaceful,” the royal father stated.
He further emphasized that the security network is the most reliable and active in the town, noting that its members are collaborating directly with the police.
