Prominent loyalists of former President Muhammadu Buhari, operating under the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), have reaffirmed their support for President Bola Tinubu and dismissed rumours of a planned defection.

Meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the group included several political heavyweights such as Katsina State Governor Dr. Dikko Radda; Niger State Governor’s representative, Umar Bago; former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura; former Speaker and ex-Katsina Governor, Aminu Bello Masari; and retired General Buba Marwa, Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Other key figures at the meeting were former Voice of Nigeria (VoN) DG Osita Okechukwu; ex-presidential aide Okoi Obono-Obla; former APC National Secretary Arc. Waziri Bulama; former lawmaker Farouk Adamu; representatives of Speaker Tajudeen Abbas; and Foreign Affairs Minister Maitama Tuggar, among others.

In a joint statement, the group said while individual politicians are free to pursue their ambitions, they must not do so claiming to represent CPC’s legacy. They emphasized that their loyalty to the APC remains intact.

Responding to a question on the bloc’s future political alignment, Hon. Farouk Adamu stated that the group remains solidly behind Tinubu, expressing hope that the president will continue to lead the party beyond 2027.

“We are with Tinubu just like our leader Buhari was. It is our hope that Tinubu continues to remain our leader,”; Adamu said.
