Abakaliki FC head coach, Starplus Anistar, has hinted on the importance of early preparation for the 2026-27 Nigeria National League, NNL, season.
Anistar said starting early will allow the club to avoid a rushed approach and build a team capable of pushing for promotion.
The gaffer said Abakaliki FC’s target next term is to earn promotion to top-flight.
“Do not forget, the 2026/2027 season is just a few months away, so we need to make hay while the sun shines,” Anistar told Completesports.
“As a coach, I do not believe in a ‘fire brigade approach’ to anything, Now that I will begin the new season as Head Coach, it is important to start early and ensure proper recruitment before entering close camping.”
Abakaliki FC finished fifth in Conference B during the 2025-26 NNL season.
