The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has expressed solidarity with the people and government of Kebbi State following floods that destroyed farmlands, homes, and public infrastructure, leaving several communities displaced.
In a letter to Governor Nasir Idris, NLC President, Joe Ajaero, commended the state government for setting up a committee to assess the damage and recommend measures for rehabilitation.
He noted that the destruction of farmlands in Kebbi State was not just a local tragedy but a national concern, given the state’s role as one of Nigeria’s major food baskets.
Ajaero urged the Federal Government to urgently intervene by repairing damaged infrastructure, providing relief materials to victims, and supporting long-term measures to prevent future disasters.
“The devastation touches the stomach of the nation, making your burden one we all share,” Ajaero stated.
The NLC pledged continued solidarity with workers and citizens of Kebbi State and called on Governor Idris not to relent in his recovery efforts
