Niger Police arrest five suspects for robbery, receiving stolen phones

The Niger State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with robbery and receiving of stolen phones.

The state Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun stated that on May 9, 2025, police operatives attached to Maje Division intercepted and arrested Richard Maiungwan Dikko, 27, along Kwanba Antenna Area of Suleja with a Bajaj motorcycle.

According to him, ”;; Preliminary findings revealed that Richard snatched a phone from a shop attendant while pretending to make a purchase. A search of Richard yielded five Android phones, including the stolen one”;;.

He explained that further investigation led to the arrest of four suspected receivers:

The four stolen phones receivers include David Raymond, 29, Emmanuel Alfred, 33, Izochukwu Raymond, 31, and Tunchi Amos, 28

Abiodun disclosed that a total of eleven Samsung phones and 14 other phones were recovered from Emmanuel Alfred’s shop in Maraba, with no documentation to prove their legitimacy.

”;; David Raymond confessed to purchasing over 30 phones from Richard. Two other motorcycles were also recovered.

All suspects are currently under investigation.
