Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has expressed his satisfaction with the high voter turnout for the local government council elections in the state.

The governor attributed this positive development to the people's trust in the electoral system.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote at the Tswashagirabba Polling Unit 010, Landzun Ward, Bida Local Government Area, Bago described the significant turnout as a sign of acceptance of the electoral process.

“This is an experience that demonstrates the acceptance of democracy in Nigeria. The way the people came out today is unprecedented; even during the general elections, we did not see such numbers, which shows that the populace has confidence in the system,” he stated.

“We also extend our gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring that sub-national governments conduct local government elections,” he added.

Bago encouraged voters in the state to behave orderly and patiently await the announcement of results while wishing success to all candidates.

In a similar vein, the Governor's Political Adviser, Nma Kolo, in an interview with reporters in Minna, attributed the large voter turnout to the trust the public has in the electoral process.

“Any progress you observe in Niger State is not just for APC supporters but for all the people of the state. The governor has been providing outstanding leadership and does not discriminate, which is why we are a peaceful community,” he said.
