The Niger State House of Assembly has urged stakeholders to contribute to the proposed private member bill aimed at establishing the Niger State College of Nursing and Midwifery.

During a public hearing, the Speaker of the House, Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, represented by Hon. Idris Musa Vatsa, Majority Leader and Member for Lapai Constituency, emphasized the significance of stakeholder input in refining the bill.
“At the conclusion of the public hearing, the House will produce a white paper, which will be presented at the plenary for further legislative consideration,” he remarked.
The chairman of the Joint Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Health, Nutrition and Primary Health Care, and Judiciary and Legal Matters, who also represents Tafa Constituency, Hon. Muhammad Sani Idris E.S., in his welcoming address, informed stakeholders that the public hearing is a tradition of the House, intended to gather opinions and insights from those directly or indirectly affected by the legislation.
He clarified that the purpose of the public hearing is to ensure ongoing improvements in access to quality education and healthcare.
Participants at the event, including government officials and representatives from the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, praised the bill, affirming that it would strengthen the training and regulation of nurses and midwives in the state.
