Niger Assembly reaffirms commitment to partnering security agencies against crime

The Niger State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with security agencies in the state to ensure citizens’ safety and well-being.

The Speaker of the House, Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji gave this assurance during a courtesy visit from the Acting Assistant Controller-General, ACG, and Zonal Coordinator of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Zone ‘D’ Headquarters, Minna, Garba Tsalha Abubakar.

He expressed enthusiasm about tapping into the experience of the Zonal Coordinator to enhance the correctional service’s effectiveness in the state.

The Speaker highlighted the Assembly’s dedication to supporting the Service while noting the need to share challenges and collaborative solutions.

Sarkindaji further highlighted the House’s notable achievements, including the recent passage of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, aimed at improving justice administration in the state.

He also mentioned ongoing efforts to amend the Thuggery Law to address prison congestion in Minna and ensure efficient justice delivery.

Earlier, Abubakar commended the Speaker and Assembly members for the warm reception and acknowledged their legislative efforts.

The ACG of NCS emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and support, recognizing the interdependence of the legislature, executive, and judiciary in promoting a safe and secure environment for citizens.
