The Niger State House of Assembly has approved Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s request for a N70 billion bond to fund infrastructure projects.

The approval followed the presentation of the report of the House Standing Committee on Finance by its Chairman, Hon. Aliyu Sheshi Wushishi, representing Wushishi Constituency.

Wushishi explained that the committee conducted a thorough review of the request and engaged with stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance, Niger State Planning Commission, Fiscal Responsibility Commission, and Debt Management Office, on the bond issue.

According to him, the investigation revealed that the request was part of a planned ₦100 billion NCNI Private Bond Issuance over 10 years.

Consequently, the House unanimously adopted the committee’s recommendation and approved the request.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji directed the Clerk of the House to transmit the formal approval to the Executive.
