SIR GINO is doing ‘as well can be expected’ in his fight against a terrible infection.

He was sent for treatment immediately after but .
It is the same bug that Sir Gino had a year ago – and which vets feared posed a significant threat to his life.
Seven Barrows boss Henderson said Sir Gino is far from out of the woods yet.
But he gave a positive update on Monday when posting a photo from alongside the Joe and Marie Donnelly-owned superstar last weekend.
Henderson wrote: “Nico & I went to see Sir Gino at Donnington Grove Equine Vets before Racing at Newbury on Saturday.
“He is looking bright and they are continuing the medication and he is progressing as well as can be expected.
“The issue is identical to the one he had almost a year ago to the day so the treatment is pretty similar.”
Describing what went wrong at Cheltenham and since, Henderson said last week: “The fractured pelvis is not the main issue at the moment.
“He is under pretty intense scrutiny due to an infectious sort of thing internally which is worrying them a little bit and it’s a slightly different battle field.
“The fracture is OK, but we’ve just got to keep on top of everything, and life is never easy.
“He doesn’t get much luck and if ever a horse deserved it, it is him.
“He’s so good it’s ridiculous – you have the best horse in the world but can’t do anything with him.
“He’s still in Gloucestershire and we’re trying to get him home but our vets and their vets are working together.
“He can only come home when they are happy and it’s time.
“We’re hoping as soon as we can, we get him back to his own hospital where he spent the six weeks last year and he will be much happier there.”
