FORMER Newcastle man Lloyd Kelly has been sent off before booting the wall as he walked down the tunnel in a bizarre scene.

The Bristol-born defender’s Juventus were 1-0 up over Turkish giants Galatasaray in the Champions League when he clashed with Baris Yilmaz.

Kelly was initially sent off for a second yellow card offense after landing on the Turkish attacker’s Achilles as he jumped for a ball.

He had been walking a tightrope since being booked in the 25th minute of the contest.

But in the end the fact he had already been booked didn’t matter, as the referee was sent to VAR.

Official Joao Pinheiro upgraded that second yellow to a straight red after consulting the monitor.

The strange scene stunned viewers and even the commentary team, with commentator Don Hutchison saying: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.”
