WHEN Celebrity Love Island launched in 2005 with hosts Patrick Kielty and Kelly Brook, it laid the groundwork for ITV2’s hit reboot.
And two decades on, ITV’s reality dating show appears to have inspired another network’s programme.

The series is being made by Bold Print Studios, which was behind Emma and Matt Willis’ recent hit Swiped: The School That Banned Smartphones Credit: Channel 4
I can reveal is working on a format that will follow eight famous singletons from the UK and US as they go on dates.
Just like on , the contestants will be shacked up together in an exotic location during filming.
Casting is underway ahead of filming in autumn, with the hope the as-yet-unnamed show will air next year.
A source said: “Celebrity Love Island was such a fantastic format it ended up inspiring a whole franchise, which is incredibly successful across the world.
“It was only a matter of time before another channel picked up the baton and dabbled with the same format.
“It’s not always easy to get single celebrities of a decent calibre who are prepared to date on air — and film on location for a month — which was one of the hurdles faced back in the day.”
The series is being made by Bold Print Studios, which was behind ’ recent hit Swiped: The School That Banned Smartphones on .
Viewers loved Celebrity Love Island back in the day, thanks to Jayne Middlemiss and Lee Sharpe’s short-lived romance, and the wild antics of , Lady Victoria Hervey and Michael Greco.
Let’s hope Disney’s version isn’t too squeaky clean.

Her next project is Disney+ drama-comedy Alice & Steve. In it, her character discovers her best mate, played by Jemaine Clement, is dating her daughter and sets about destroying him.

Fans will be able to watch the explosive series on Three from June 18. Alan Cumming presents the American version, which premiered across the pond earlier this year.

Dec teased: “We’d like to launch something ourselves pretty soon
“We’re working with ITV closely at the minute. We’ve got lots of thoughts and we feel like we may have another live format.”
I wonder if it’s in a similar vein to , which they rested in 2024 after 20 series.
Bursting with ideas, Dec told festival SXSW London yesterday: “We’d love to explore the possibility of TV and a social media platform simulcast in some kind of way. We just want to reach everybody all at once.”

IT looks like the megastars of have a new cast member, who is Absolutely Fabulous.
Steve Martin, and Martin Short have teamed up with to film new episodes of the Disney+ whodunnit comedy.
Martin and Steve posted a picture on featuring Jennifer wearing a pink wig.
They captioned the image: “We love working with Jennifer Saunders, for whom chewing the scenery is fine dining.”
That sounds like a compliment – “chewing the scenery” is an old showbiz term meaning overly dramatic, which is a bit like Jen’s outrageous character Edina Monsoon in Ab Fab.
Only Murders In The Building has had five successful series. Fans will probably have to wait until next year for new episodes.
