Jane Osuji, Chief Superintendent of Corrections, has been appointed as the new Public Relations Officer for the Service by the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), effective immediately.

A statement released in Abuja by the Deputy Controller-General of Corrections, Human Resources, Ado Sale, announced the appointment, highlighting that it follows the retirement of the former Public Relations Officer, Deputy Controller of Corrections Umar Abubakar, on November 19, 2025.

As stated, CSC Jane Osuji is from the Owerri–North Local Government Area of Imo State. She earned a BSc in Public Relations and Advertising from Lagos State University and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.

She joined the Nigerian Prisons Service in 2009 as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons II (as it was previously known) and has completed all necessary training courses for her rank. She makes history as the first female Public Relations Officer of the NCoS.

The spokesperson has participated in several specialized courses, including the Internal Security/Low Intensity Conflict Operations Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji. She has had an impressive career, serving in various capacities such as Assistant Public Relations Officer at the Lagos State Command, Public Relations Officer for the FCT Command, and later as the Assistant National Public Relations Officer at the National Headquarters, working under four different Controllers-General.

Additionally, she has served extensively as Press Secretary to three Honourable Ministers of Interior from 2015 to 2023.

The statement clarified, “Before her appointment as the Service Public Relations Officer, CSC Jane Osuji was a member of the Public Relations Unit at the Service Headquarters in Abuja. She is happily married and has children.”
