Nathan Aspinall cracks crowd up with X-rated verdict after losing final of Players Championship Finals to Luke Littler

NATHAN ASPINALL left the Minehead crowd in stitches after an X-rated comment on stage.

Aspinall battled to the final of the Players Championship but was undone by in a gutsy 11-8 defeat.

The Asp, who pocketed £60,000 for being the runner-up took to the stage after the final to give his thoughts.

And the 34-year-old said: “A fantastic weekend for me to make the final.

“I don’t know what I can say but I’m absolutely b*******d.”

The comment triggered cheers from the crowd as the Stockport thrower laughed.

He continued: “I don’t know how this guy has the – well I do know, he is 18, and I’m 34.

“A fantastic tournament. I am back in the top 15. That was a big target.

“You have to credit Luke, the guy is incredible. What he has done for this game is incredible. I am happy to share the stage with him.”

Aspinall then concluded his speech by adding: “If anyone is out tonight, I will have a baby Gunniness.”

That remark also sparked cheers from the crowd who were loving the world No15’s showmanship.

Fans online also loved it, with one saying: “Iconic.”

A second said: “Man of the people.”

A third added: “Only true sport left.”

Triumphant Littler was full of praise for his rival.

He said: “It wasn’t easy. I wasn’t high enough in the ranking, so it wasn’t easy to get to the final.

“I’m very proud to get this one ticked off the list. Only two more to go.

“Nathan has been playing very well for a good few weeks. I had to dig in. I knew I’d played brilliantly all tournament. I am glad I got the job done.

“Everything is where it needs be. Now for the big one next month.

“Early in my career, I was being myself, now I am starting to put out more emotions in the game, and it’s still paying off. Glad I have got this one.”

The result means that Littler has won eight of the ten major televised events, despite only being 18.

Littler, who averaged 103.33, made amends for losing last year’s final to .

He is the overwhelming favourite to retain the Sid Waddell Trophy this and become the sport’s first £1million champion.

In 2025, the Warrington teenager has held aloft the World Championship, UK Open, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, Grand Slam of Darts and now this pot in Somerset.

Should Littler triumph in the Masters and European Championship next year, then he will have done a clean sweep of all individual premier crowns – by the age of 19.
