The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has carried out airstrikes that killed several Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP, fighters, including commanders, and destroyed two gun trucks in Yebi, Borno State.

According to a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama via his X handle, the strikes followed a clash between troops and terrorists along the Baga–Cross Kauwa Main Supply Route on September 15.

The insurgents had attempted an ambush near Garin Giwa but were repelled, leaving eight terrorists dead, including two field commanders and a unit leader. Fourteen motorcycles were recovered while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

NAF aircraft later tracked the fleeing terrorists to their hideouts in Yebi, where four separate strikes destroyed the gun trucks and neutralised more fighters.

Mop-up operations were also conducted to target insurgents who tried to flee the area, sources said.
