Authorities have initiated an urgent murder investigation after a man was discovered fatally stabbed inside a residence.
Police were summoned to a location on Sawley Street in Leicester during the early hours of this morning.
Officers responded to notifications from the East Midlands Ambulance Service, which arrived at the scene at 1:37 AM.
A man in his 30s was located with a stab wound and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Leicestershire police have confirmed that they have apprehended six individuals in connection with the incident.
One man, aged 44, has been detained on suspicion of murder.
It is reported that he was acquainted with the victim.
Meanwhile, five others, aged between 24 and 53, have been held on suspicion of assisting an offender.
They are currently in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Tim Lindley, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s (EMSOU) major crime team, stated: “A dedicated police resource is being deployed for this operation as we strive to gain a complete understanding of the events that transpired.
“We believe the incident occurred inside the residence on Sawley Street in the early hours of this morning, and tragically, a man has lost his life as a result.
“The victim and the individual currently in custody for murder are known to one another, and our priority at this time is to ascertain precisely what happened.
“Throughout the day, officers have been engaging with residents in the area to provide reassurance.
“This effort is ongoing, and we encourage anyone who may have heard or seen anything relevant to our investigation to please come forward.”
