A MAN has been killed and a mum-of-two is fighting for life after a horror head-on scooter crash with a car in Bali.

Bryce Alexander Black, 33, died at the scene after the scooter he was riding on with his girlfriend Samantha Baillie, 33, slammed head-in into a car in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to Bali Legals, the central Coast man was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ms Baillie – also from the central coast – was rushed to hospital in critical condition,

The couple were travelling along Petitenget St in North Kuta about 4.30am when tragedy struck, ending Mr Black’s life and leaving Ms Baillie critically injured.

A GoFundMe has since been launched by Ms Baillie’s friend Savannah-Leigh Homer, who revealed the mum-of-two was left “badly injured” in the devastating crash.

“She has suffered significant injuries throughout her body, including a fractured skull with bleeding on the brain, multiple broken fingers with severe hand injuries, injuries to her pelvis, and extensive injuries to her feet,” Ms Homer said.

“She is badly injured and facing a long and uncertain recovery.”

Ms Homer said the Bali trip was Ms Baillie’s first time overseas after “recently starting a new chapter of her life”.

“It was supposed to be a happy milestone,” she explained, adding it was now “the most devastating time of our lives”.

The fundraiser revealed Ms Baillie will be unable to work due to the severity of her injuries.

“Sam is a hairdresser, and due to the severity of her injuries, particularly to her hands, she will not be able to work for a long time,” the fundraiser read.

“How she will manage day to day once she is home is a major concern.”

Ms Homer said she and Ms Baillie’s mum have now flown to Bali and are scrambling to cover soaring medical costs and organise her return to Australia.

“We have already paid $6000 toward her initial hospital care, and we have now been issued a further medical bill of $52,000, with more costs expected,” Ms Homer said in the fundraiser.

“This has only just happened, and the financial burden is overwhelming.”

Heartbroken tributes have flooded social media for Mr Black, with friends saying he was “taken way too soon”.

“I’m going to miss you and your cheeky smile,” one friend wrote.

“Very sad news such a great young bloke,” another said. “All my kids and his family all grew up together on the Central Coast.”

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) spokesman confirmed consular officials are assisting the families involved.

“The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to the families of an Australian who died and an Australian injured in Bali,” the spokesman said.

“We send our deepest condolences to the families at this difficult time. Owing to our privacy obligations we are unable to provide further comment.”

DFAT can offer support and guidance for families and liaise them with Australian authorities to bring people home, but have no authority to intervene in local judicial matters, conduct local investigations or pay for funeral or repatriation costs.
