A mother and her two children tragically lost their lives in a fire that engulfed their home on Boxing Day.

Emergency services were alerted after the devastating blaze occurred in Stroud, at approximately 3 a.m. on Friday.

A 7-year-old girl, a 4-year-old boy, and their mother, who is in her 40s, were trapped inside the burning residence.

The remains of the mother and one child were recovered on Sunday, although formal identification has not yet been completed.

Authorities, including Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue and paramedics, responded to the fire at the house on Brimscombe Hill to combat the blaze last week.
