MOTORISTS are facing delays of up to an hour after a major UK motorway was closed following urgent bridge repairs.
The M3 in Hampshire has shut westbound between J12 (Allbrook) and J13 (Eastleigh) for emergency bridge repairs.
Specialist service providers are currently in attendance working to carry out the required repairs.
“Please be advised, we’re reporting delays of at least 50 minutes above usual journey times on approach to this M3 westbound closure,” National Highways: South-East wrote on X.
The motorway is also set shut in both directions for two entire weekends – sparking chaos for 100,000s of drivers.
will take place from 9pm on Friday, January 30 until 6am Monday February 2 and then again later in the month.
The second weekend of closures will hit from 9pm Friday, February 13 until 6am Monday, February 16.
As part of the M3 junction nine improvement project, routes affected will include the M3, A34, and A33.
The between junctions eight and nine as steel beams are installed for new roundabout bridge decks.
