AT LEAST 13 people including three army officers have been killed in a horror plane crash in Democratic Republic of Congo.
The military aircraft was travelling to the capital, Kinshasa, when a technical problem forced the pilot to make an emergency landing.
“With no landing strip available, the plane crashed into a residential plot,” Remy Saki Bokinda, the Kwango vice governor said.
Passengers included General Likulia Bakumi, the army’s auditor general, as well as a major, captain, military personnel and civilians.
It is unclear if any of those onboard have survived.
Grim footage of the crash site shows the wreckage of the aircraft engulfed in flames.
A crowd watched on in shock as thick plumes of black smoke rose above the inferno.
The plane was reportedly a small, Czech-made L-410 operated by TRACEP.
